Where I'm From poem

11/20: Follow the instructions on the handout to create your own poem.

Over the break

Plot out your movie on a story board, bubble cluster, outline, etc. Have an idea of how you want to organize your ideas and media.

Collect your images and music. Put them on a jumpdrive. This will be much easier at home than it will at school.

Read your book and work on your DJs.

Important Due Dates

Just in case you tuned me out in class and threw away the handouts, recognize that you entire note packet (6 sources) is due on Monday. Additionally, we will have our first lit circle meeting. That means you need to have the first third of your novel read and five discussion questions ready to go on Monday. I will not officially take up the DJs until 12/10...but don't let yourself get behind.

11/8: note-taking and citations

Look at pages 32-36 in the handbook to record the proper citation for each source at the top of a note sheet (see below). Then, record a summary, paraphrase, and quote for each article. To review the difference between summaries, paraphrases, and quotes, look at page 17 in the handbook.
