Greek Theater Test & Essay

Thursday's test will include the following information:
  • Greek theater (from the PowerPoint)
  • Oedipus and Antigone
    • Plot
    • Character (quote identification and character traits)
    • Theme (fate controls our lives, pride is a destructive force)
    • Tragic Hero (5 traits, Oedipus, Antigone, and/or Creon)
    • Literary Elements
      • figurative language
      • irony
      • allusions
      • foil/parallel
  •  Vocabulary words from Antigone
  • Definitions from Scene 5: 
    • Defile: tarnish, make dirty
    • Welter: jumble, confusion, muddle
    • Glut: surplus, excess
    • Doddering: foolish
    • Recoils: withdraw, retreat

Friday's Essay:
  • Essay reminders
  • Prompt # 2
  • Must use the civil disobedience texts and Antigone to support your claims
  • Will have 50 minutes to complete the essay
